Non Surgical Periodontal Therapy
The New Paradigm

Onsite Rationale

Each of dentistry's previous paradigm shifts has permanently altered the profession. Innovations such as four-handed dentistry, dental insurance, fluoride and high-speed hand pieces forced dentists to become accustomed to the new way or be forced to close their doors. Nonsurgical perio treatment has become a central approach to the comprehensive care of the dental/periodontal patient.

Behavioral Objectives and Outcomes

By following our seminar and implementing our protocol, general dentists will move from recommending "super prophies" to presenting appropriate conservative perio treatments. The hygiene team will perform more meticulous Scaling and Root Planing (SRP) with local and/or systemic chemical adjunctive therapy. Doctors and hygienists will be better equipped to inform patients about their disease state and demonstrate appropriate home care techniques.

The Ethical Hygiene Model and Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment (2-day, hands-on course)

While managing patients with Periodontal Disease has become an accepted part of comprehensive care in the general dentists office, it does require commitment from all members of the dental team. The clinical skills of the hygiene team are tested as they are asked to co-discover the disease along side the dentist. Communication is essential from the assisting team to facilitate understanding by the patient. The administrative team is charged with preparing the patients for treatment by performing financial arrangements and also fielding calls and questions from patients

Your Periodontal Treatment Program must be based on the latest understanding of the disease process and its base in Immunology if it is to be effective in the clinical management of Periodontal Disease. We know that it is not just about calculus anymore and this must be understood from the initial exam through maintenance.
